Look what I did today.

Remember that big bin of cards a few posts back?

http://rookiecardcollector.blogspot.com/2010/02/look-ma-im-rambling-without-aid-of.html

Well... now it is down to

Still a ways to go, but

I started bagging them...

and the realized that was a tedious process of finding the bag, opening the bag and putting the card it and doing it again and again and AGAIN! (I did bag some cards the other day, but the piles where all done TOOODAY)

So I just decided to make piles. One for every team. THEN I can put them in the baggies.

This all done in a day. TOOOODAY!

The Yankees is the biggest pile, the Expos the smallest.

Oh, and I dropped my box of Braves the other day.

Now they are all jumbled. :(

Plus as you can see the box is to big to hold all my Braves. The poor Brave box can't hold all the Tomahawke greatness. All thanks to you guys.

When They Where Young

I don't really care for most of the 2010 topps inserts. Or well, I shouldn't say that as I do find the cards interesting. I just have a hard enough time getting the base set and then you add in the half a dozen inserts and it seems you will never finish the set.

...Of course I have yet to finish any set due to missing a few cards, but that is another story for another day.

Anyhow, back to the topic. I love the "When they where young" insert, mainly because the girl part of me finds the little ball players cute. Plus they have a Chipper and McCann. Or I thought they did. They had better anyhow.

Currently I have a total of one cards. Whoo! This is where I will likely need YOUR help. Yes YOU. If you don't care for the set, or have doubles I will gladly take them off your hands. Plus I have cards from the other inserts so we can trade and I don't just sound like a begger. I don't have a lot of doubles of the base cards, but I WILL... later.

Now for Qu... qu.. questions!

Do you happen to have a favorite insert this year? Or a least favorite?

OH,OH, OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!

and to those I owe packages they where sent out TODAY. Later than I wanted, but it was the best I could do. One goes waaaaaay up north. I pray it doesn't get lost.

I DID get a baseball related V-day gift! (and two more random topics)

I remember when Chipper use to be on the cover. I still have a few saved in fact.

My mom got it for me, said she didn't know which one to get as there where several with Braves on the cover.

I am curious if anyone reads these magazines and if so, which one, or why do you pick one over the other. I noticed they have the same sort of info on teams and players. I do find them interesting in learning more about players other than the Braves and even the Braves themselves really.

Oh, and I got a new million card giveaway.

Why am I getting new cards? .. and apparently Topps doesn't have an image of the front of the card.

and one more thing..

IT LOOKS AS IF JURRJENS IS GOING TO BE OK!

Thank goodness.

Please let it be nothing....

Pleeeeeeeeeeease.

I really hope it is just sore. We need him. We need good pitchers.

For those of you link fearing people, Braves pitcher Jair Jurrjens is going to have an MRI on his shoulder due to him feeling discomfort while throwing some pitches last week.

I was looking forward to this year. Or well, I look forward to every year really. It is to damn early for something like this to happen.

Topps million card results.

I am a sheep. Bahhhhh. Bahhhh,

I got....

POKEY REESE 1998

I had thought I had seen it before.

and...

CHICO RUIZ 1968

Shipping charges on Topps millon card giveaway.

I was checking out the offcial rules and it appears that you will have to pay to get your cards shipped to you.

It reads...

FOR MOST BASEBALL CARDS AVAILABLE IN THE GIVEAWAY (I.E., NON-PRIZE BASEBALL CARDS), IN ORDER TO TAKE POSSESSION OF THE BASEBALL CARDS, YOU MUST PAY A SHIPPING AND HANDLING FEE OF $2.92 (USD) FOR THE FIRST BASEBALL CARD AND $0.53 (USD) FOR EACH ADDITIONAL BASEBALL CARD.

Well... crap. I don't have a way to pay really. I should have figured it though. Forive me if this has been discussed elsewhere as I haven't seen anything yet.

Screw Chocolate, gimmie cards.

So today is Valentines day. HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! Either the most romantic day ever or the the most commercialized, depending on which way you look at it. Or just another Sunday, which is how I see it.

I don't have anybody really to buy before, besides family and they got cards. Hallmark type cards, not the baseball ones cause they don't care about it. Or Hallmark like ones as the actual ones are expensive. 4.99 for a CARD? AND IT DOESN'T EVEN SING!

But if I did have somebody I'd have to tell them the traditional stuff just wont cut it.

A dozen roses? How about a dozen packs of base cards?

Instead of a box of chocolate, a blaster box of 2010 topps series 1.

Jewelry? Forget about it! A hobby box of cards is the way to go!

A romantic card? Pass. A game used Chipper Jones jersey card is much better deal.

Tickets to an Opera? TICKETS TO A SPRING TRAINING GAME! Duuuur.

People are freaking out and buying all the bread and milk. :P

....Over four inches.

WHICH IS FOUR MORE THAN WE USUALLY GET!

Card buying temporarily on hold....

Until I can get....

Yea, another nerf gun. I mentioned them a while back. I like collecting them, along with baseball cards. I find them lots of fun.

and whooo! MY CAT WAS RIGHT! THE SAINTS WON!

and now I leave with questions that you don't have to answer and I don't expect you too, but just felt the need to add fluff to the post.

Why does my Target not have any 2010 upper deck?

and why are they showing logos in upper deck when I thought they couldn't?

Why can't I find a card shop within 100 miles of me?

Why didn't I think to buy sandwich bags?

Why do I have cards everywhere and not where they should be?

Why haven't I used my baseball card work station?

Where did I put my glue stick?

Where do I put my five dollars?

Where is the back to my night finder?

.... what was I going to say next?

Why am I watching the Titanic again? It is to depressing.

That last part was snot a question.

and neither was that.

....or that

or... I'm going to bed now.

My cat picks the superbowl winner

and who does she pick....

...and I really need to stop posting about my cat. I will be the crazy cat lady when I'm old though, this I know.

My one and only set.

At the beginning of the year, I made a resolution to stick with only one set.

That set will be 2010 topps. Why 2010? Because I already bought a few packs.;P Plus, minus the inserts and the blasters (someone want to tell me you only get 8 cards a pack in the blaster when you get 10 cards a pack otherwise?) I like the set and they readily avalible at wal-mart and target.

I also have binders of 2006, 2007, and 2008 topps.

As for last year's, I only have about twenty measly cards. I had three blaster boxes, but those where from wal-mart with the black borders. Maybe they will have em for cheap somewhere.

I even have a binder already.

As soon as I get a pack of cards home I sort them in the album.

I just hope I haven't screwed up my counting along the way. Filling an empty slot with a card feels so good though.

Last year I focused more on upper deck, as well as buying any pack I came across, or trying to anyhow. Mainly UDX and UD icons

With the whole hoopla going on with Upper Deck, I don't know if there will be a UDX or those other sets other than the main. I will likely buy one or two packs of upper deck, just because.

My question to you is if you could only go after one set this year, what would it be and why?

Look ma, I'm rambling without the aid of drugs or beer

2,000 cards in a big ol' bin

a big ol' random pile of assorted teams, years and brands in various conditions.

Let's say I sort 100 cards a day.

That means in.... 20 days I can have all the cards sorted into their various teams.

Then I'll arrange the cards alphabetically by a player's last name, working on two teams a day.

So in..... 14 days I will have all the teams sorted.

I'll take on five days for procrastination.

and take away three because I have no life and thus might sort 200 cards a day, or else do for teams a day. The cards will go in a team baggie. A SANDWHICH BAGGIE!

A PLASTIC SANDWHICH BAGGIE!

(pssssssssst ^ That baggie says Tigers as it was an old one I found that I didn't toss out when I did all this before. Notice how wrinkly it is)

…I'll even use some bags that have the warning that they are not intended for infants as some teams will be to big for a mere sandwich bag.

A FREEZER bag.

Each bag will have a team name written in PERMANET marker.

...Not washable.

PERM A NIT!

...cause I'm a daredevil risk taker like that.

That means I will need 31 bags, likely 6 of them being freezer bags or maybe 10 or.. or... I DON'T KNOW! I'm just going to go with ten.

Why 31 bags when there are only 30 teams?

Well, I also have cards of three players on three different teams and minor leagues as well. So the cards with than two players on two different teams get a bag and the players not on an MLB team get a bag.

Shouldn't that be 32 then you ask?

I am not including the Braves as they have their own special box I have decorated just for them. IT IS SNAZZY!

Then I will divide the teams into N.L and A.L

Then I'll arrange the teams alphabetically and place them in the two boxes that I have labeled N.L and A.L

..but I'll leave them in the baggies, cause I'm not finished yet.

I'll give myself a day for both tasks. Pshh... an hour. I'm good.

I actually already have some teams in the boxes(some sorted alphabetically already) ((By TEAM and PLYER)) and at one point I had nearly all my cards sorted (by TEAM and PLAYER), but something happened and now they are unsorted. I think it was when I was in kick to sort by set and then realized that I will never complete the sets and grew frusterated and thus decided to go back to teams.

I will end up taking out all the teams I have in the boxes currently and placing them in the team bags with the cards that where in the bin, because If I don't and end of sorting the cards in the bin alphabetically and the find the same team in the boxes sorted alphabetically I will have to sort them again.

…..Now I'm confused.

Anyways, then I will need to make labels for the teams that will go in the boxes as well, so I can separate the teams and know exactly where the Cardinals end and the Cubs begin.

That will take a day... MAYBE TWO! Again, procrastination.

Then I can take the teams out of the bags and I will be done!

This will take place in the same day that I finish making the labels and putting them in the boxes alphabetically.

So in....... 40 days I will have all this done. Or well, when I added up the20 days and then the 12 and then I subtracted 5 from 3 and added one day and then two more.

Actually it is 39, but I like nice even numbers so 40 it is.

But wait, I'm a terrible guesstimater.

What if I only have 1, 000 cards?!

Then....

TWEENTY DAYS!

NO, WAIT!

Let's add nine more days for procrastination and one more because 50 is better than 49 and 30 is better than 29.

.....Now I just need to purchase some baggies.

*Pants for breath*

Calling all collectors of Ticket to Stardom....

I opened my hobby box from Ebay and now only need 22, 44, 115, 122, 161, 202 203, 204, 205, 207-217, 219-

I HAVE DOUBLES! LOTS OF DOUBLES. Even TRIPLES! Tell me what you neeeeeeeeeeed.

I even have jersey cards!

.....Someone's gotta collect those cards.

I was bipped! ....and trade with Jon of Rain of Error

It was through the mail this time! I traded some UDX with Jon of Rain of Error

and got.....

but I did get a nice warning.

I can't believe I got a card of the guy that was at the Braves Caravan. If only I would have thought to check the mail Saturday, before I left. I could have gotten it signed

I got a lot of UDX 2008 I needed. Plus some other cards to add to my player collection.

CONTEST! CONTEST! ..contest.

Play at the Plate: Groundhog Day Contest

Guess what percentage of the base set of Topps 2010 you think he will have after opening 25 more packs. he is already at 66.7%

GO ON AND GUESS!

I MET SOME BRAVES!

So yesterday I went to one of the Brave caravan stops. I had been looking forward to getting Jordan Schafer's autograph, as I had rookie card of him and had starting liking him last year but he wasn't there unfortuantely, as he had a family emergency.

I still had great time. I even went though the line TWICE! I was the third person in line the first time around, which was awesome. Of course I did get there an hour and a half early. I even talked to people while waiting, something I usually fail at. ...Talking to people that is, but we had the BRAVES in common.

I got pictures with every guy, something I likely wouldn't have been able to do with bigger guys like Chipper Jones.

FREDDIE FREEMAN!

PAUL ASSNMACHER!

JIM POWEL!

ZANE SMITH!

HOMER!

Oh, wait I DID stand next to Chipper!
